Speedboat

LYRICS
Went to the pier to take the boat for a spin. Board broke and busted my shin.
Took a dive as my neighbor watched. I lost my pants, my image was shot.

Made open water and ran out of gas. You busy fuckers can kiss my ass.
Penguin paddled to the lone gas stand, juiced up and made for the water.

Gazebo Dave, you are my hero. Try to make a run for the border in a stiff town.
Ride the waves with the Jack of clubs in a duct tape bubble gum roadster of the waterways.

Open lake and I pushed on the pedal. Engine jumped and ground up some metal.
Got wet and swam to shore. Couldn't deal with the boat no more.

Gazebo Dave, you are my hero. Try to make a run for the border in a stiff town.
Ride the waves with the Jack of clubs in a duct tape bubble gum roadster of the waterways.

You gotta make it faster - make it faster if you can.
Drop the weight and put the pipe in the mailbox. I wanna make it to the water this time in my
speedboat...speedboat...speedboat...

Boat broke down so I took it for a check-up. How was I to know the whole thing would make me throw up?
A new carb and a bent prop blade. I think it's time to make a trade.

STORY BEHIND THE SONG:

We live in a small resort town. A lake. Small quaint shops uptown. 13 restaurants. Bed and Breakfasts. Private preparatory school - Culver Military Academy. In the summer when all the "lake people" are out in their ski boats and jet skis and sail boats...it gets real crazy. Real frustrating. This guy in our neighborhood tried to start a marina called Gazebo Marina. The only other marina on the lake has been there for a long time. We're talking ol' boys. They didn't want Gazebo Dave to suceed. They won. We respect Dave for his efforts and applaud him. Without his fight and failure, Portside Marina wouldn't exist.
